Transformation in a Time of Uncertainty – A One-Day Program

Our time and place in history bring us
face to face with profound societal impasse…
We can find no escape from the world we’ve built….
Yet it is only in the process of bringing the impasse to prayer
to the perspective of the God who loves us
that our society will be freed, healed, changed.
Constance FitzGerald, OCD

We cannot solve the problems facing us with the same level of consciousness that created them.
Albert Einstein

These two quotes capture for the Institute why we do the work we are doing. We are living at a monumental time in the evolution of the species and the transformation necessary to live differently invites us to embrace a new consciousness – a consciousness rooted in contemplation and dialogue.

Transformation in a Time of Uncertainty (TITU) is a one-day program designed to engage persons who resonate with this belief in exploring the time in which we live and learning how to listen and speak from a contemplative heart and inviting conversations among different perspectives. The program begins with a one-day gathering and invites participants to continue a commitment to the power of contemplation to transform one’s consciousness through a communal process over a period of time through conference calls and blogs.

Because the design is developmental access to the rest of this section of the website is currently restricted to those who are participants in the program. Some reflections or discussions may be posted for general use.

The dates for upcoming TITU programs are listed on the sidebar. The Institute is scheduling additional programs. If you are interested in having one in your area please contact: iccdinstitute@aol.com, Subject: TITU Inquiry.

Participants’ Comments:

I loved this program — it addressed something that is missing in my life.
I am very involved in church reform issues and feel like I’m losing faith
in that process and neglecting my own spirituality. I need contemplation to transform my consciousness.

I came thinking this would be action oriented…. Instead I feel
renewed and encouraged to dig much deeper — explore further
and seek companionship on this journey. The question exercise
forcing us to answer the questions many ways was so telling;
the 10-minute sitting in silence — both were so helpful.

I found very helpful the presentation going through the stages of consciousness
as a foundational grounding and the practice in methods to go more deeply into the contemplative
process. This is a positive approach, one that is needed for our meaningful conversations
and engagement in all areas of relationship.

Participating in this program helped me understand
the uncertainty
we are dealing with at the present time
and ways of transformation
that fill me with hope for the future.
The TITU program shows us there are
ways which we can be
involved that are practical, easily understood
and solidly
based on our Catholic Christian call to love of neighbor

and a way to respect and dialogue with those who see
differently
than ourselves.
